Happy new school year! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful and restorative summer, and that your first few days of the 2023-24 school year have been off to a great start.
I’ve greatly enjoyed visiting schools these first few days. From welcoming transitional kindergarten students to their first day at school in Cobb ES, to seeing Aptos MS eighth graders get to know each other in advisory, to observing students at Downtown HS already starting to analyze texts, I witnessed our values come to life across the district as we unite as one team in service of our students.
I am excited to welcome you back to SFUSD for the new school year, and appreciate your commitment to SFUSD students and families. We start this year with clear goals for student learning. Our values of equity and anti-racism guide our efforts to ensure that each and every student receives the quality instruction and support they need to thrive in SFUSD and beyond. It is your dedication to this vision that keeps our district going, and I want you to know that your work is deeply valued.
Please keep reading this month’s newsletter for updates about the new school year, EMPowerSF, and more.
I look forward to working with you this year. |
